Like many schools, Yale already had a free tuition program in place. But they've just announced a significant increase to the income threshold.

Yale made an official announcement that they are increasing the free tuition income threshold from $100,000 to $200,000. With potential changes to educational loan servicing and recent tuition hikes and inflation, this affordability move is sure to be appreciated by many, and perhaps imitated by other schools who can afford to do so.

Top private schools also offering such programs include the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Dartmouth College, and Harvard University. There are a number of state school systems (New York, Massachusetts, Minnesota, California, and New Jersey) who also offer such programs to residents, though their income thresholds tend to be singificantly lower. A few smaller colleges even use a "no-tuition" model, instead relying on work-study and scholarships to support student education.
